So the 156 has a break. While she’s having a complete engine rebuild, I’m driving this mad 899cc Italian shopping cart. Right away we have like 200km behind us and boy it’s a love hate relationship. In the city you have perfect visibility, low fuel consumption, and you need to rev this thing all the time to keep up with traffic, you may occasionally pass something if there are 2 lanes but that’s it. Also there’s no power steering but since the car weighs nothing it’s only a problem when you’re stuck in a very tight parking spot (which with the car’s size happens all the time) and you need to spin that wheel (straight from 126p) back and forth. Although there’s a back seat and a trunk neither serve their purpose, the LPG tank fills the second one thus all the baggage lands on the first one, don’t worry - adults wouldn’t fit there anyway, they can squeeze at most.
Comfort, seats are quite soft, suspension definitely not, still the car tries to roll over on every hard entrance, what did you expect?
Price and condition - the car costed 550$, it has an LPG conversion worth about 300$ when new (it’s legal till 2015 then you change the tank or legalize old one) and a set of winter tires things that need to be replaced to make it work /look like brand new sum up to about 100$, steering wheel for ex. 5 buck, new. So… why would I hate that car? No sound proofing, any trip above 50km and you want to kill yourself, which isn’t hard cause hitting a curb might do the trick when you’re in this pocket roc… stove.
So I’m anxiously waiting for my 156, though I’m not entirely happy about 2000km of driving under 2500 rpm for the engine to break-in properly :-(
